Hi! Please send your name, email, and phone number to start the chat!
The Year 8 Mathematics course builds upon the foundational knowledge from Year 7 and introduces more abstract and complex concepts. Students develop stronger algebraic manipulation, geometric reasoning, and numerical fluency. The course deepens understanding in areas such as linear relationships, measurement, probability, and data analysis, and prepares students for Stage 5 mathematics.
Book LessonReports are sent via email, by the end of term.
Reports are included in the price below. Also note the reports sent are more comprehensive.

The student has shown steady improvement across the terms, in Math. Homework completion is consistent with a few late submissions. Overall, excellent progress!
Term 1 revisits and extends number operations, including integers, indices, and rational numbers. Students develop fluency in performing operations with negative numbers and powers. They deepen their understanding of algebraic expressions, learning to simplify, expand, and factorise more complex expressions. Equations become more involved, setting a strong base for linear and non-linear relationships.
Term 2 focuses on linear equations and their graphical representations. Students learn to identify patterns, form rules, and represent relationships algebraically. They plot linear graphs from tables of values and use coordinates to interpret real-world problems. The term also introduces the concept of gradient and intercept, leading to a foundational understanding of straight-line graphs.
In Term 3, students explore geometric reasoning, angle relationships, and properties of shapes. They study congruency, basic constructions, and the use of geometric tools. Measurement includes calculations of perimeter, area of complex shapes, and volume of prisms. Practical applications and problem-solving using these skills are emphasised throughout the term.
Term 4 introduces students to more detailed statistical analysis and basic probability. They learn to analyse data sets, interpret graphs, and calculate mean, median, mode, and range. In probability, students explore simple and compound events. The term concludes with revision of all major topics and the development of exam strategies and mathematical thinking skills to support a strong transition to Year 9.
