The Year 7 Science program introduces students to the core scientific disciplines of biology, chemistry, physics, and earth and space sciences. Students develop essential inquiry and investigation skills, including making observations, forming hypotheses, conducting fair tests, recording data, and drawing conclusions. Emphasis is placed on developing scientific literacy, critical thinking, and safe laboratory practice. Students begin to explore the role of science in society and how scientific understanding can be applied to solve real-world problems.
Book LessonReports are sent via email, by the end of term.
Reports are included in the price below. Also note the reports sent are more comprehensive.

The student has shown steady improvement across the terms, in Science. Homework completion is consistent with a few late submissions. Overall, excellent progress!
In Term 1, students are introduced to the scientific method and laboratory procedures. They learn how to work safely with scientific equipment, accurately measure substances, and record data. Through experiments and investigations, students build their ability to observe, classify, and communicate scientific findings. This foundational term establishes the practices that will support their science learning across high school.
Term 2 focuses on chemistry and the properties of matter. Students explore the particle model of matter and investigate mixtures and their separation techniques including filtration, evaporation, and distillation. They learn how substances interact and how scientific knowledge is applied in everyday processes such as water purification and food production.
In Term 3, students study biological science, focusing on the classification of living things and their role in ecosystems. They learn how organisms are grouped based on observable features and explore relationships within ecosystems including food chains, energy flow, and human impacts. Students examine how environments change and the importance of biodiversity.
The final term integrates physics and space science. Students investigate the concept of forces including gravity, friction, and magnetism, and their effects on motion. They also explore EarthÆs place in the solar system, looking at how planetary movements relate to day, night, seasons, and lunar cycles. By the end of the year, students have a broader understanding of scientific principles and are prepared to explore them in greater depth in Year 8.
